A Better Way

by Gary Gay

3 John 2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. NKJV

There is a better way for us to walk in health and to prosper than listening to man and the Worlds ways. We talk about this yet we continue to do the same old things that produce more death and mediocrity. Why is that?

The World system is controlled by satan and has sold us a bill of goods. We study research on why this food, drug or exercise is best to keep us alive and healthy. Yet with every research theory, there is a counter theory that undermines the first. It is madding. It never stops because there is no answer apart from God. No matter what the theory is this week, there is another on the way. We blame pesticides, water pollution, poor air quality; soil is depleted, bad eating habits, no exercise, and the list is endless. Yet scriptures address none of these things. Why is that? I hear “It is because those were different times. Things were not so bad then.” If that is the case, we have just said most of scripture is not relevant for today. Most people act that way. These things are not relevant if our soul is prospering. God never gives us a plan “B”. We can keep listening to man and believing the World’s way or we can do it free of charge God’s way, which I believe is “The Better Way.” I have chosen His way. Therefore, I press into loving Him well and my neighbor as myself. I leave the other plans behind with no regret.

The question is what causes our soul to prosper? We find the answers scattered through scripture. It starts with love with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. This means loving what matters most with our entire being. That means if my love is functioning to its full capacity, I should be healthy and prospering in all things. This journey is changing me daily.

Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.‘ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” NKJV

Mark 12:29-31 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.‘ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” NKJV
